Govt driver escapes death in Anambra state

Awka – A late afternoon car crash involving a pick-up vehicle belonging to one of the agencies of the Anambra state govt somersaulted few minutes ago

today on the newly opened flyover bridge at Kwata junction, Awka.

The sole occupant of the vehicle with registration number AWK 61 TB escaped with minor bruises.

Good Samaritans who rushed to the sport quickly blocked further use of the bridge temporarily. They also helped to turn up the vehicle which had rested on its head after the crash.

Eye witnesses noted that the driver came onto the bridge in top speed, right into a stationery white coloured tanker laden with petroleum product. He discovered it was stationery and instantly swerved. The vehicle then skidded off its track which was slippery because of the light rains drizzling.

The driver was seen frantically making calls to his boss and colleagues narrating the unfortunate incident to them.
