A group operating under the umbrella of Transformation says it rejects the proposed rotation of the Nigerian Presidency.

Transformation in a statement signed by Jude Ugwu, global leader of the group said it believes that only a presidency won through a persuasive argument based on clear and objective policies and programmes is good enough for Nigeria.

He said Transformation believes in a Presidency that is capable of transforming Nigeria from its present mess and into a stable, peaceful, and properly functioning country with progressive and outward looking economy, able to cater for the needs and aspirations of its millions of citizens.

Jude also noted that the rotational formula is clearly an attempt to legitimise corruption, unaccountability, and mediocrity fully and finally by the current ruling elites who have never hidden their desire to steal Nigeria to death.

Below is the full statement:

The Transformation unequivocally and vehemently rejects the proposed rotation of Nigeria’s presidency between the north and the south

While The Transformation acknowledges the difficult and historical issues surrounding the opportunities and lack of opportunities thereof for various ethnic groups in Nigeria to ascend to the office of the presidency, The Transformation believes that only a presidency won through a persuasive argument based on clear and objective policies and programmes is good enough for Nigeria, and is capable of transforming Nigeria from this mess it has been plunged in, and into a stable, peaceful, and properly functioning country with progressive and outward looking economy, able to cater for the needs and aspirations of its millions of citizens.

We totally reject the notion that the office of the presidency should be passed around between corrupt politicians in the north and south of Nigeria, respectively. That is clearly an attempt to legitimise corruption, unaccountability, and mediocrity fully and finally by the current ruling elites who have never hidden their desire to steal Nigeria to death. There is no doubt that the ultimate beneficiaries of this idea are the inept and corrupt politicians who have led Nigeria to the graveyard. More so, it will completely disenfranchise all the non-major ethnic groups in Nigeria from aspiring to the highest political office in a country where they should have an equal stake as much as anyone else.

The Transformation believes in the noble goal of using politics for the greater good of the society. And our members are determined to pursue the objective of using the Green Manifesto to completely transform Nigeria from its current state of failing into a great, modern, and prosperous nation centred on justice, law, and order.

Fellow Nigerians, if you believe in the same objective as we do, I invite you to read the Green Manifesto on www.transformation.ng but also more importantly, to sign up with The Transformation on the website or to join one of our WhatsApp groups or Telegram groups and also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at @thetransformng.

Signed: Jude Ugwu. Global Leader, The Transformation.
