A Senior Secondary School girl and five others have been reported killed by gunmen in Goska, a village near Kafanchan, in Jemaa Local Government of Kaduna State, early Sunday morning.
The class two girl, Gimbia Morik, is the daughter of Mr Gideon Morik, former Deputy Speaker of Kaduna House of Assembly and also one-time Chairman, Jemaa Local Govermment.
“The attackers just stormed the village and started shooting; they killed six people including my daughter, and five others,” Molrik told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Kafanchan, on Sunday.
He said that the attackers injured many others and burnt many houses.
The local government and two others – Kaura and Zango-Kataf, have been under a 24-hour curfew, following incessant attacks by unknown gunmen.
A senior police officer, who confirmed the incident, described the destruction at Gioskas as “very devastating”.
He said that the corpses have been deposited at the Kafanchan General Hospital where the injured were also being treated.
Already, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has condemned the attacks, and vowed to fish out those that invaded Goska.
The governor, who empathised with families that lost loved ones, charged security agencies to double their efforts toward halting the persistent attacks.
The federal government on Saturday deployed more troops to Kaduna State ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations, the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports.

NAN also reports that the 24-hour curfew imposed in the three Local Government Areas of Jema’a, Kaura and Zangon Kataf has been relaxed.
Aruwan said the development came after credible intelligence at the disposal of security agencies suggests a possible threat to peace and urgent need to nip it in the bud .
“In order to strengthen security in Southern Kaduna and the state at large, more troops and operatives comprising the Nigerian Army, DSS and other intelligence personnel/investigators have been deployed.”
According to him the Nigeria Police has also deployed various units of Mobile Police, Counter Terrorism Units (CTU) as well as many units of both conventional and undercover operatives to adequately provide security to the people.
“You may recall that the Governor had met Mr. President regarding the security situation in the areas and the intelligence reports at the disposal of security agencies.
