‘I don’t have properties in Dubai’ − Fayose, Babangida Aliyu

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose and former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu has both declared that they does not have any house in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Fayose challenged anyone with information of any property linked to him in Dubai to publish the details. The governor, who also said he was ready to waive his immunity to be prosecuted if any house was linked to him in Dubai, added that he was not a kind of person that will deny his assets.

Babangida Aliyu stated he has no property in Dubai or Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Aliyu said in a statement signed by his Adviser on Media, Mr. Israel Ebije, on Friday that a list of political office holders who are alleged to have properties in the UAE, circulating on the social media was nothing but a product of mischief.

Recall that an online media notorious for publishing sensational stories had reported that President Buhari has given Nigerian diplomats in UAE till the end of March to compile list of politically exposed Nigerians with properties and businesses over there.

Saharareporters had listed the names of Nigerians with properties in Dubai as follows:

Former Bauchi Governor Isa Yuguda has property in Ab Dhabi; Two houses found in Abu Dhabi owned by Bashir Yuguda a former Minister of State for Finance now on trial; Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke owns a house in Abu Dhabi; Former Minister of Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe also owns a property in Dubai; Former Minister of Transport Idris Umar also owns a property in Dubai, now hiding in Dubai; Ex-Minister of Petroleum Res. Diezani Alison-Madueke also has businesses linked to her in the UAE; Former 1st Lady, Patience Jonathan has three properties in Dubai and several businesses; A plush home linked to ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio @SenAkpabio located in Dubai; Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state also owns a house in Dubai @GovAyoFayose; Ex-Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state has a property linked to him in Dubai; Femi Fani-Kayode @realffk also has a property linked to him in Dubai; Ex-@PdpNigeria Chairman Adamu Muazu found with properties in Dubai, Muazu is also on the run; Ex- NIMASA DG, Patrick Akpobolokemi, now on trial for fraud /money laundering also own properties in Dubai; Ex- Special Assistant Domestic to GEJ, Dr. Waripamowei Dudafa is linked with properties in Dubai; Ex-Comptroller-General of Customs Abdullahi Dikko also linked with properties in Dubai, has fled to the US

Interestingly, no member of the ruling party is mentioned in the Saharareporters report.

However, speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was painful that the people, who seized power in Nigeria through falsehood and propaganda were still lying eight months after assuming office.

He said; “I’m not among those lily-livered Nigerians that will deny their assets anywhere.

“They are in the federal government and they should have access to all information both in Nigeria and abroad. I therefore challenge them to check books on owners of all properties in Dubai.

“If they trace any house to me in Dubai, the federal government should make public all the details including pictures, location and title documents.

“The government should also confiscate such property and I am ready to waive my immunity to be prosecuted.”

The governor also reiterated his commitment to speaking the truth at all times, not minding whose ox is gorred, adding that; “No amount of their falsehood and propaganda can silence me.”

He said; “They have taken their propaganda to the most ridiculous height and it is shameful that after taking over Nigeria by falsehood, they are still lying to deceive Nigerians just to cover up their lack of solution to the country’s economic problems.

babangida aliyuAlso denying having any property in Dubai or Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, said in a statement signed by his Adviser on Media, Mr. Israel Ebije, on Friday that a list of political office holders who are alleged to have properties in the UAE, circulating on the social media was nothing but a product of mischief.

He said that those peddling the information were only out to ridicule him and expose him to investigation.

The former governor challenged those behind the information to produce evidence of such properties including pictures. He called on the Federal Government to take over any property found to belong to him in Dubai as he did not have any.

He also called on the citizenry to ignore the reports which he described as false. “I do not have properties in Dubai or Abu Dhabi as peddled by some media organizations. I don’t even own a mattress outside Nigeria.

“They should do their investigation and if I am found guilty of owning any property in UAE, the Federal Government should appropriate it. I wish therefore to tell Nigerians to discard the allegation. It is not true, it’s mischievous, misleading and aimed at rubbishing my name”

He said that he was in support of the current move being made by the President to retrieve stolen funds and to make political offices less attractive in the country.

“I am totally committed to the President Muhammadu Buhari decisive effort towards repatriating stolen funds and his plan towards making political offices less palatable and incidence of impunity as low as possible. I am however concerned over baseless accusations peddled against my person,” he added

Aliyu who said that he belonged the group of politicians who did not loot his state treasury, decried the prevalent situation where all opposition political figures are viewed as corrupt.

Stating that targeting the opposition as corrupt was inimical to the credibility of the campaign against corruption, Aliyu said that he was being exposed to allegations of corruption because of his decision to remain in the PDP.

Aliyu said that he led the G-7 group of governors to fight impunity in the PDP and wondered if such allegations would have been made against him if he had moved to the APC.
