I was invited by the army, not arrested, Mike Asukwo clarifies

BusinessDay Newspaper cartoonist, Mr. Mike Asukwo has clarified that he is not under arrest, rather was invited by the Army to help in a particular investigation.

Mr. Asukwo made the clarification following reports that he was arrested by military personnel on Sunday.

Taking to his Facebook page, he wrote:

“Hello all. Thank you very for your concern. I really appreciate it. I want to assure all that I am free and safe.

“Please, disregard the news arrested by the army over the lockdown. The army in Abia state is not involved in the enforcement of the lockdown.

“I was invited by the army to assist in a very crucial investigation involving one of their personnel known to me.

“The matter has been concluded and I will be on my way tomorrow. I am not being held against my wish.”

Skeptics, however, has raised concerns that the post may actually be made by same personnel that arrested him ans not Asukwo himself.
