FC Ifeanyi Ubah is officially out of the CAF Confederation Cup after losing 3-0 to their Egyptian counterpart, Al-Masry SC on penalty shootout after 1-1 aggregate.
You may recall that FC Ifeanyi Ubah won Al-Masry SC with one goal to nil (1-0) during their encounter at FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium Nnewi/Ozubulu in Anambra State, Nigeria.
Al-Masry SC also ended the 90 minutes of the play with one goal to nil (1-0) against FC Ifeanyi Ubah during the encounter at home in their Tolip Sports City Football Pitch in Cairo, Egypt.
The 1-1 aggregate led to the penalty shootout that saw FC Ifeanyi Ubah eliminated from the competition.
Earlier, chairman of the club, Ifeanyi Ubah had urged his players to beat Al-Masry SC in their home during his morale-boosting visit to the players in Cairo.
Ubah had challenged the team to repeat their dominance over Al-Masry SC even in their home like they did during their first leg encounter.
Charging his boys, Ubah said: “If they can come to our home and play under our hot weather condition, we can also play in their cold region and defeat them,” he said .
He continued: “Everybody knows that from the first leg, you are a better side and we expect you to beat them here.”
The whole episode ended with the 3-0 penalty loss in Egypt that saw Ifeanyi Ubah FC out of the competition.
