Ignore election boycott, Igbo World Assembly urges to vote massively

IGBO WORLD ASSEMBLY (IWA) SPEAKS ON THE ENEMIES OF NDIIGBO AND IGBO AGENDA

DAY OF RECKONING: SATURDAY 16TH FEBRUARY 2016

IGNORE THE CALL FOR ELECTION BOYCOTT AND COME OUT AND VOTE MASSIVELY

IWA PRESS RELEASE

The Igbo World Assembly (IWA) laments about the discord orchestrated by the enemies of Ndiigbo (Internally and Externally). THEY HAVE FAILED

IWA is the Umbrella of Igbo Organizations in over 23 countries across the globe. The organization is structured under two groups:
*Group 1: The Americas, Caribbean, organized by Council of Igbo States America (CISA).*

*Group 2:   Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceanic, organized by European Igbo Community (EIC).*

The Diaspora umbrella organization represents the Ohanaeze Ndiigbo Diaspora Committee. It is very important to bring to your attention THIS STRUCTURAL FACT to Ndiigbo Home and Abroad. It is also important to note that IWA have been working very closely with Ohanaeze Ndiigbo for years both in normal times and in every turbulent and challenging times to this present status whereby Ohanaeze Ndiigbo is accepted as the *MOUTHPIECE OF NDIGBO WORLD WIDE.  NO GOVERNMENT IN THE SOUTH-EAST AND SOUTH-SOUTH or ORGANISATIONS (EXCEPT FEW SUCH AS IWA, AKA IGENGA, ALAIGBO DEVELOPMENT FORUM (ADF), TO NAME A FEW) HAVE BEEN SUPPORTING THE OHANAEZE NDIIGBO.

IWA recognizes Ohanaeze Ndiigbo led by President General, Bar Nnia Nwodo as the mouthpiece of Ndiigbo worldwide. Therefore, any group or State governments or individuals who claim to represent or speak for Ndiigbo does so for their selfish interest and should be condemned.

Ohanaeze Ndiigbo have not for once deviated from condemning the federal government (Past and Present) when Ndiigbo are mistreated or marginalized and at the same time focusing on Igbo Agenda on the following issues:

Restructuring of the Country.

Federal Character
appointments which have not been reflected in this present government.

The insecurity in the country and the killing of innocent citizens by the Herdsmen.

The politically motivated fight against corruption and flagrant abuse of Rule of Law

IWA supports Ohanaeze Ndiigbo as it works very closely with other socio-cultural groups across Nigeria including Afenifere, Northern Elders Forum, Pan-Niger Delta Forum and the Middle Belt Forum in endorsing the People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi for the 2019 Presidential elections.
IWA supports decisions taken by Ohanaeze Ndiigbo in the pursuit of Igbo interest and not political interest. The decisions may not be acceptable to some individuals, groups, State Governments, etc. for their selfish politics.

IWA strongly rejects any attempt to suggest that Ohanaeze Ndiigbo is divided. Far from it. Ohanaeze Ndiigbo is intact under the leadership of our able President General, Bar Nnia Nwodo.

Whoever is elected by Nigerians in a free and fair election, Igbo World Assembly will support.

IWA TAKES A STRONG POSITION ON MATTERS OF INTEREST FOR NDIIGBO AND NIGERIA IN GENERAL, SUCH AS:
GOOD GOVERNANCE
RULE OF LAW
SECURITY OF LIVES AND PROPERTY
EQUITY AND FAIRNESS IN THE CORPORATE NIGERIA
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT.

Finally, we support Ohanaeze Ndiigbo’s call for Ndiigbo to all come out to vote on election day.

As the Diaspora Umbrella Organization of Ndiigbo worldwide, the membership of IWA comes from many countries outside Nigeria including USA, UK, France, Spain, Finland, Netherland, Ireland, India, Ghana, Mali, UAE (Dubai), Pakistan, Germany, Switzerland, South Africa, Russia, Australia, Denmark, Japan, Italy, Mali, Ghana, Korea, China, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden and Canada. IWA works very closely and recognizes Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo as the authentic mouthpiece of Ndi-Igbo World Wide.

Respectfully,

Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze
