IGP Intelligence Response Team kills Army deserter, 4 others in Owerri failed attack

The Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), led by Abba Kyari have eliminated one of the commanders of the military wing (Eastern Security Network) of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) in Imo state, popularly known as Dragon and four other notorious members.
Members of the gang had attempted to attack the state police command headquarters in Owerri.
In a press briefing at command headquarters, Elkana, Police Public Relations Officer said Dragon was an army deserter, who took over from the former commander, Ikonso.
He said four AK-47 rifles stolen from policemen, ammunition, local explosives and charms were recovered from the fallen felons.
One Stanley Osinachi, from Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state who was captured after the attackers were over powered said he was conscripted to attack police and government formations.
“The attackers, who came in a white hummer bus, wanted to access the Command Headquarters through Works Layout around Alvan Nursery and Primary School, Owerri, but had a bloody fight with the security forces.

“One suspect Stanley Osinachi ‘m’ 30 years old of Achi/Mberi, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State was arrested and presently aiding investigation.
“A police inspector sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire this morning and is currently receiving medical attention.
