Ihedioha Turns Rochas Foundation College Premises To Garbage Dump Site!
By Johnbull Chikwe
In what is seen as a furtherance of his vendetta against his predecessor, the Imo State governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha seems to have instructed his waste disposal agents to dump garbages removed from some parts of Owerri at the entrance of Rochas Foundation Schools, located in Orji, a suburb of the State capital.
This action is without regards to the health of the poor orphans and children of the poorest of the poor who have found refuge in the school.
Some residents had called the attention of this reporter to the eyesore, complaining that the health of both the students, teachers and even those who do businesses around the school is in danger, as the offensive odour oozing out of the waste is pungent.
A resident who does not want his name mentioned, complained that some trucks had come to dump the refuse there after last month’s environmental sanitation exercise that took place in the State on the last Saturday of June.
He claimed that this is the first time such is happening around the area and wondered how anyone would consider a school environment fitting to dump refuse.
“The governor should at least consider the health of these innocent children and order for the immediate evacuation of these wastes from the school premises.
“I don’t think it is right for the governor to take his vendetta against Owelle up to this point.
“Let him know that it is not right to play politics with everything.”
Some pundits have however seen this action from a different angle.
They claim that the dumping of refuse at the school premises may be a prelude to invasion of the school premises by hoodlums, who may be sponsored by the State government.
The Emeka Ihedioha-led Imo State government is yet to react to the allegation.
