Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State Press Statement — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has successfully concluded its training/workshop programme for its media and publicity officers drawn from the 27 Local Governments in the State.
The training/workshop, which was designed to enhance the media performance of the party’s Publicity Secretaries and their New Media counterparts in the State, was held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the party’s State Secretariat, Okigwe Road, Owerri.
In his opening remark, during the brief opening ceremony, the State Chairman, Sir Martin Ejiogu, explained that the training/workshop became necessary because of the changing trends in the political developments in the State and the country.
Sir Ejiogu stressed that the party is very proud of the Publicity Secretaries and New Media Directors in the State, Local Governments, and Wards for the way they have remained resilient against the prevalent bad leadership in the State at this time.
He implored them to resist all intimidations, threats and harassments by the current regime in the State, but rather intensify efforts at continually reporting the truth of issues arising from the regime and the State.
Other speakers who further encouraged the participants to endeavour to continue reporting the truth and exposing the shortcomings of the regime in the State, included the State Secretary, Hon. Nze Ray Emeaña, and Chief Anylyn Nwaneri, a notable leader of Imo PDP.
Also in attendance at the opening ceremony were other members of the State Working Committee (SWC), including Barr. Josiah, Eze, State Treasurer; Hon. Chief Mrs. Maria Mbakwe, State Women Leader; Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu, Ag. State Legal Adviser; Hon. Greg Nwadike, Ag. State Youth Leader, Ogubundu Nwadike, Ag. State Publicity Secretary.
The occasion also had in audience the National Deputy Financial Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Henry Ekpe; the Ag. Publicity Secretary, South East Zone PDP, Engr. Augustine Elochukwu Okeke; immediate past Honourable Commissioner for Technology Development, Nze Meekam Mgbenwelu and few other leaders.
The resource persons were Chief Fan Ndubuoke, Dr. Amanze Obi, Dr. Austin Uganwa, Dr. Walter Duru and Engr. Augustine Elochukwu Okeke. With a great display of expertise and experience, they delivered well-researched lectures on relevant topics structured to advance the knowledge and practice of the party’s media and publicity officers.
In his vote of thanks, the State Secretary, Hon. Nze Ray Emeaña thanked the leaders of the party, the resource persons, and the participants for taking out time to attend the programme and ensuring that it was a huge success.
Generally, the one-day training/workshop programme successfully inculcated the basic modern tips for better media performance of Imo PDP Publicity Secretaries and New Media Directors, going forward.
