An Advice to Governor Nasir El Rufa’i and Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna State – By Isah Muhammad Galadima

Senator Shehu Sani and Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai: Two Giants Fighting on the grass! (Part One)

Going through the Google records of Governor Nasir El-Rufai and Senator Shehu Sani both of Kaduna State, one, especially that from afar, will assume that Kaduna state has gotten the best duo of politicians well and fully equipped to turn around the state. This assumption is not far from the truth even though it goes against the reality on ground today.

Senator Shehu Sani, a Civil Right activist, an author, a playwright and an astute politician was born on the 29th October 1967. While Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai was ushered into the world on 16th February 1960. The Governor is thus 7years older than the Senator.

Both of them have impeccable records of crusading against corruption, but Shehu Sani excelled in the crusade for the rights of the poor masses. Probably, those who never knew him to be a professional Agricultural Engineer, know him better as a Civil Right Activist, hence his name Comrade.

El-Rufai has shown evidences of fighting and exposing corruption in the past administration he served in capacities, hence people called him Malam for such a rare behavior.

We celebrated their victory that saw them into the exalted seats they currently occupy. We have hopes that the duo will use their past experience in working synergistically towards making Kaduna a revamped state. But, unfortunately the two leaders are currently fighting against each others political inclinations. They do so not in the interest of the masses that voted them into power, not in the interest of their individual political ambitions, but for selfish political admiration.

The Senator is angry with the governor for sidelining his political camp during political appointments, a prerogative power of the governor. Senator Shehu Sani has accused El-Rufai of not considering any appointee from his camp, a development which is quite unfortunate, and perhaps the only reason why the two politicians are vehemently against each other publicly today.

Despite their capabilities in dealing with our problems, the politicians rather choose to stage damaging war against the political ambition of one another. This they do boastfully and without any recourse to the myriad of issues killing our state.

The masses that voted Shehu Sani into power did not send him there to tarnish the colossal efforts he is making at the Senate, or to undermine his Civil Right Activism by fighting his state governor politically. Similarly, we have not voted El-Rufai as the state governor for him to ignore the essentials thereby engaging in political crusade with his very active and vocal Senator Shehu Sani.

We expect the two politicians to go back to a reconciliatory table and eschew their differences, make certain compromises and start a stronger political synergy in the best interest of the state. We cannot forgive the duo if they continue with this fight even as 2019 is fast approaching. We expect them to forgive the past mistake, to be open minded, to be ready to accept their mistakes toward one another and cease the fight. Kaduna can be better if both Governor Nasir El Rufai and Senator Shehu Sani work together.
