The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria have lambasted the federal government for th high cost of living in the country and its inability to halt this situation after more than two years in power.
The President of the group Chuks Ibegbu accused the federal government of dissipating energy in blame game and its inability to reduce the cost of living in the country. How can a cup of garri sell for one hundred Naira . Rice , Beans and virtually all consumables are out of the reach of the common man. What is the purpose of government if not to make life better for the people , Ibegbu queried. The federal government has been wasting time blaming Ex President Jonathan for all our woes rather than devising a road map to move the country forward , Ibegbu lamented.
Yes , the regime of Ex President Goodluck Jonathan was very corrupt but the present regime is yet to tackle corruption within it too. Billions of Naira are still being stolen every day by members of government , Ibegbu noted.
He lamented such cases of wastful spending like the buying of Expensive and exotic cars for members of the National Assembly when many Nigerians are dying of hunger, the buying of sixteen SUV cars by Governor Nyesom Wike to National legislators from Rivers state when the youths of the state are in agony and killings of grand proportion go on in the state on a daily basis,when Rochas Okorocha is busy buiding Statues and appointing Commissioners for Hapiness and enjoyment. when the court is busy returning Patence Jonathan’s loots and the loots of |Timipre Sylva in Bayelsa, when poor Nigerrian girls are allowed to die in far away Meditarranian sea due to hardships in Nigeria, when our legislators allot jumbo pay for themselves without doing anything to better the lots of our people, when contract bazaar worht more than twenty five billion dollars was caroused in the NNPC, when billions of Naira pension funds were pilfered by Maina and his gang and he was re-instated by government officials until the public raised alarm,
, Ibegbu further lamented.
Ibegbu called on government officials to think for the people and stop looting public funds.He warned President Mohammadu Buhari to reduce to cost of living or quit the scene.
