EFCC Detains Billionaire Fraudster Tunde Ayeni For Bankrupting Aso Bank
Elombah.com can authoritatively report that billionaire fraudster, Mr Tunde Ayeni is currently being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC].
Mr Ayeni is in detention over some high level massive corruption perpetrated in connivance with top employees of Aso Savings & Loans [ASL] Plc. which forced the Federal Capital Territory [FCT]-based bank into bankruptcy.
Elombah.com had, on 30 July 2017, reported that Ayeni, the former chairman of Skye Bank, alongside former MD of Aso Savings & Loans Plc., Mr Hassan Usman, and several others, had feasted on ASL.
Others involved in the shady deals are the CEO of Capital Oil and Gas, Mr Ifeanyi Ubah, York Assets, Olutoya – Tunde Ayeni’s company, Aso Grove, Hassan Usman, retired DIG of Police Abdulkadir, son of former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, Shamsuddeen, and a host of others.
Documents in possession of Elombah.com indicated the said individuals, in connivance with top employees, extended loans to companies and individuals which were never repaid.
Some of the ‘bad loans’ were given at zero per cent interest while other were merely written off shortly after they were given which ran into billions of Naira.
Besides loans, some properties belonging to the financial institution were sold but were not accounted for, or were not properly documented.
Ironically, when an insider, Hajia Maimuna Sanda Aliyu, a former senior staff in the bank, blew their lid open, they ganged up against her and masterminded various shades of attacks on her.
Hajia Maimuna Aliyu’s residence and the residence of her son both located in Abuja were picketed simultaneously in the morning of Saturday, June 17, 2017, by ASL staff allegedly at the instigation of Tunde Ayeni and Hassan Usman.
Not done with that, Mr Ayeni and his cohorts cooked up baseless allegations contained in petitions lodged at the Independent Corrupt Practices and other offences Commission (ICPC) and police headquarters.
The allegations led the federal government to remove Mrs Aliyu and Sa’ad Alanamu from ICPC board.
Laolu Akande, spokesman of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, had officially stated:
“We are stepping down two of the new ICPC board nominees who have ongoing investigation issues with the commission as this presents a conflict.
“While existence of allegations or petitions against someone shouldn’t necessarily disqualify them from considerations for appointments.
“This case presents a peculiarity as we have confirmed that the agency in which they are to serve is indeed investigating the two of them.
Prior to her removal and in a bid to prove her innocence, Hajia Maimuna had then approached the renowned foremost whistleblower, Dr George Uboh with explosive evidences of massive corruption in the highest echelons of the financial institution, Aso Savings & Loans.
The nefarious activities of the suspects prompted several petitions to the EFCC, Inspector-General of Police and other legal institutions.
The result is the dumping into one of the EFCC cells Mr Tunde Ayeni.
According to the synopsis of frauds committed, monumental deals were fraudulently executed at the detriment of the bank as follows:
– the CEO of Capital Oil and Gas, Mr Ifeanyi Ubah obtained a whopping N3.4 billion Naira loan from the bank without interest and adequate collateral;
– Tunde Ayeni, York Assets, Olutoya – Tunde Ayeni’s company, Aso Grove, Hassan Usman, retired DIG of Police, Abdulkadir, son of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory [FCT], Bala Mohammed, Shamsuddeen, and a host of others had a feast on Aso Savings & Loans.
– Ironically, the central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] recommended that Tunde Ayeni be relieved of his duty as Director in 2012 but was, rather, promoted to Chairman by the end of the year, to mention but few.
