Two catholic priests killed in Makurdi by Fulani herdsmen
Rev Fr Joseph Gor who raised alarm about Fulani herdsmen attack in January was this morning alongside 14 others murdered by suspected herdsmen at St. Ignatius’ Catholic Church, Gwer, Benue State.
Two Catholic priests, Fathers Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha have just been brutally murdered this morning by herdsmen in Ukpor-Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.
In the Makurdi Diocese, some of their parishioners went for the morning Mass.
Fr. Tyolaha had been displaced by herdsmen in his own parish and he went to take refuge in Fr. Gor’s parish. But the herdsmen still hunted him down and killed him.

Reacting to the atrocity, President Muhammadu Buhari described as vile and satanic the killing of worshipers and two the priests at the Catholic church.
“I extend my sincere condolences to the government and people of Benue State, the Mbalom community, and especially the Bishop, priests and members of the St Ignatius’ Catholic Church, whose premises was the unfortunate venue of the heinous killings by gunmen”, Buhari said.
In the statement made available to ElombahNews by Femi Adesinqa, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity) and dated April 24, 2018, the President added, “This latest assault on innocent persons is particularly despicable. Violating a place of worship, killing priests and worshipers is not only vile, evil and satanic, it is clearly calculated to stoke up religious conflict and plunge our communities into endless bloodletting,”
Stressing that the country will not bow to the machinations of evildoers, President Buhari vowed that the assailants would be hunted down and made to pay for the sacrilege committed.
