The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Thursday November 24, 2016, arraigned one Nwachukwu Placidus on a ten count charge that bothers on Fraud and Falsification of First City Monument Bank Certificate of Investment, before Hon. Justice I.B Gafai of the Federal High Court Awka in Anambra State.

When the charge was read to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty to the ten count charge preferred against him by the EFCC. In view of his plea, the defense counsel Barr. D. M. Ezeani immediately prayed the court to grant the accused bail.

But the prosecuting counsel Barr. S. M. H. Ibekwute Esq. vehemently opposed the bail application, and hinged his argument on the fact that the accused person already has a police record hanging on his neck, and as such might become elusive and stall his trial.

After listening to both counsels, the court however, granted the defendant bail in 2 sureties which must not be below grade level 14 in the civil service and must be verified by both the Head of Service and the Court Registrar.

The case was then adjourned to January 25, 2017, for commencement of trial.

Adamawa State Governor, Senator Mohammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow broke out in tears when he sighted dilapidated nature of Villanovo Government College in Numan, and therefore ordered the immediate renovation of the school.

He blamed the past administrations, attesting that the generation yet unborn and posterity will never forgive them. The fact is  that the school is one of the oldest school  and popular, in the state and had produced great men and women in the country.

"I'm shedding tears because I can't imagine living beings are living in such a  horrible environment ,all facilities that are suppose to be functional are virtually not working". He said

He said, he weep for the future  because the educational sector which is supposed to be the bedrock of our  society is the one that is mostly neglected by our leaders.

Bindow further added that this dearth of infrastructures was applicable to schools touched by insurgency when they held swayed in some local government of the state.

According to him Numan  was not among the seven local government areas that were ran  by the Boko Haram Insurgency and it is expected that an old and popular school like. Villanova  should not be in such a deplorable stage.

" By now we should be talking about schools destroyed by Insurgency if other schools like  Villanova were not neglected by the past administration."

In his words " that is  why I have declared a state  of emergency on the sector, so as to enable us to renovate and revamp the sector, so that our teeming youths will get access to quality education.

Bindow who inspected the schools facilities shortly after the EXCO meeting, which was moved from the state capital and was held in the school said, he has decided that all his EXCO meetings from now on will be held in all 21 local government areas of the state. so as to bring government presence to the people of the grassroots .

He said the reasons for moving the EXCO meetings from the state capital to enable him and his cabinet see things for themselves so as to take prompt actions where necessary adding that if they had not gone to Numan to hold the meeting there, he wouldn't know the horrible stage of the school.

"I am tired of seating in the office waiting for somebody to bring memo which may not described the reality on ground." He said.

Responding the principal of the college, Mr Linus Fate, said this was the first time a government held it EXCO outside the state capital . He therefore appreciate the governor for the gesture done his school.

- supports populist jubilations in ondo state

-          urge inec to postpone november 26  election

-          commends court of appealfor noting pattern of fraud against eyitayo jegede

-          warn against apc’s invidious politics

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus of the House of Representatives (PDP House Caucus) notes, with deep appreciation, the remarkable populist jubilation that erupted all over Akure city and other parts of Ondo state, following the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which ordered INEC to declare Mr. Eyitayo Jegede as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Saturday governorship election.

While many are making a logical call for the postponement of the election in view of the apparent disadvantage that our candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede is confronted with; we had hoped that the Independent National Electoral Commission would consider the logical reasons being advanced for such an extension, in the strict interest of fair play and justice.

Nonetheless, we find it necessary to draw attention to needless shenanigans, desperate scheming and unimaginable manipulations that had been engineered by the ruling APC, its known appendages and its unseen hands towards crushing the will of the people in Ondo state by all means.

Legal Triumph

We commend the three-member panel of Appeal Court judges led by Ibrahim Salauwa for pointing out that Justice Okon Abang’s October 14 ruling on the PDP crisis in relation to Ondo was a complete “fraud” aimed at recognizing someone other than Mr. Eyitayo Jegede as the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the November 26 election.

“The entire ruling of the 14th of October is a nullity. It is hereby set aside. Everything that was done at the lower court is a fraud,” the Court of Appeal had reportedly said.

Amplifying the cause of truth in the matter further, the court also described the June 29 judgment which gave rise to the October 14 ruling, as a gross abuse of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi’s right to fair hearing.

“It is a gross abuse of Section 36 (1) of the constitution, particularly the right to fair hearing . . . We set aside the highly misplaced; most fraudulent judgment on June 29,” the court said.

Most importantly, we applaud the Supreme Court’s assertive decision on Thursday, that all pending cases relating to the dispute over the leadership issues of the Peoples Democratic Party be referred back to the Court of Appeal, Abuja.

 Ondo: Hope Versus Darkness

The APC house is poised to fall before 2019: we implore the entire good people of Ondo state to choose wisely and cast their votes for PDP, genuine democratic spirit and the hope it represents, rather than the darkness, vicious dictatorial tendencies, insensitive pains, directionless economic policies that the APC and its invidious politics now represents.

Indeed, unspoken realities within the APC itself indicates that in Ondo state, there is a battle of APC versus APC as its Abuja forces that are not on the ground at all are backing an official candidate while the leadership of the party in the Southwest is backing another, unofficially.

While the two parties in the ‘APC versus APC battle’ for Ondo state have mobilized huge personnel and arsenal of humongous cash from Abuja, Lagos and other parts of the Southwest, we note the reassuring victory that our candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, transparently achieved when he triumphed over desperate and negative forces at the Court of Appeal.

A vote for either of APC’s two governorship candidates in Ondo state would be an invitation to backwardness, unrestrained herdsmen rampaging over more farmlands and remote control of the state by external forces in Abuja or Lagos.

We remain fully confident that PDP’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming election, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede has the crucial support of the people; no weapon of untruth fashioned against him by the contending wings of APC shall succeed because the masses can now see through the fraudulent ‘change’ that has made life even more difficult for all.
