BREAKING: INEC may postpone tomorrow elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is considering postponing Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections, multiple sources are telling Elombah News.
Feelers from the electoral commission indicate the postponement being considered is due to some logistics challenges being faced by the commission in many states.
The electoral body is facing difficulty distributing sensitive electoral materials to some states of the federation, an official said.
Reacting to the development, opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP, presidential campaign council told Elombah News:
“President Buhari attempts a last minute move to postpone the elections, in a bid to alter his eventual defeat in the Presidential elections.
“Regardless of how many times a man alters the clock after midnight, he can never delay sunrise”. Defeat is certain!
:February 16th, or February 18th or February 23rd or any other day, Nigerians will defeat President Buhari and correct the mistake of the last four years.”
In the absence of an unequivocal statement from INEC so far, tomorrow’s poll is on course. Buhari cannot give an election speech last night and you postpone a nationwide election today.
That will be extremely incompetent!
Elombah News has reported that INEC commissioners are currently locked in a meeting at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Some of the states where the logistic challenges are said to occur include Niger and Ekiti.
In our report by the News Agency of Nigeria, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Niger State said ballot papers for two of the state’s three senatorial districts were missing as of Friday evening.
