Insecurity: Remove soldiers from streets in Imo, media group tells Uzodimma

Uncomfortable with the numerous senseless and extra-judicial killings of Imo people and residents by the security agents in Imo State, members the Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP) have on Thursday June 10, 2021, condemned in it entirety the killings and want Governor Hope Uzodinma to send soldiers back to their barracks.

In a press statement signed by the group’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kennedy Onwunali, read, “The association however x-rayed the spate of indiscriminate arrest and extra judicial killings of our people and therefore call on the Governor, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodinma to withdraw soldiers from the streets of Imo state”.

The group charged the police in the state to take up her responsibility towards safeguarding the lives and property of the citizenry by carrying out “their duty Judiciously in their ongoing Operations against the Unknown gunmen in the state”.

FMMP Chairman, Chris Nwokocha in the release however decried the alleged looting of a truck conveying onions at Mbaise by hoodlums, adding that Mbaise people are known to be decent and hardworking.

He warned those who may want to tarnish the good image of the people to desist from such actions.
