The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on training of officers of the academy by the fund and development of intellectual exchange opportunities for the benefit of the two institutions and the wider community.

The Director-General of the ITF, Sir Joseph Ari, and the Commandant of the NDA, Maj.-Gen. Jamilu Saham, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations on Tuesday in Jos.

Ari said at the occasion that the signing of the MoU would identify and develop intellectual exchange opportunities that would benefit both institutions and the wider communities.

He said that the intent of the agreement was to produce officers with broad-based training both in military and academic subjects designed to serve as a foundation for the nation’s future development.

He said that the ITF would adopt the digital, the green and brown field approaches to ensure that all the trainees would be exposed to new trends in technology and have practical hands-on training.

The director-general said the fund would work with the data provided by the NDA to ensure periodic feedbacks.

Earlier, Gen. Sarham, who was represented by the Deputy Commandant of the NDA,Air Vice Marshall Ibrahim Ali, expressed optimism that both institutions would benefit a lot from each other via the signing of the MoU.

Sarham said the agreement would last for five years at the end of which it would be reviewed and renewed.

He commended Ari for reforming the fund. (NAN)
