Ize-Iyamu gets APC nod to contest Edo primary election, direct primary adopted
The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to contest for the primaries of the governorship ticket.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party late Thursday granted him a waiver to participate at the upcoming primary election ahead of the Edo State governorship election coming up on September 19, 2020.
It was also gathered that NWC had resolved to adopt the direct primary option earlier used in the state for the governorship primary.
The committee noted that the option will give every card carrying member of the party opportunity to determine who the flagbearer is for the state governorship election.
The NWC meeting was chaired by the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Others in attendance at the meeting include the Deputy National Chairman (South), Senator Abiola Ajimobi, National Vice-Chairman (North-West), Inuwa Abdulkadir and his counterpart from the South-South, Hilliard.
Other are the acting National Secretary, Waziri Bulama, National Organising Secretary, Emma Ibidiro and National Legal Adviser, Babatunde Ogala.
