JUST IN: Mali’s Transition Govt Inaugurated
Mali’s transition government has been successfully inaugurated today after two months of consultations by Ecowas_Cedeao mediation team in Bamako.
ECOWAS envoy led by the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan had returned to Bamako two days ago to continue consultations with major stakeholders on how to return the country to a civilian administration.
Today, Mali witnessed the swearing-in of Mr. Bah N’daw and Colonel Assimi Goita as President and Vice President of Mali’s Transition Government. The new government will embark on an 18-month long task of restoring normalcy, stabilising the country, uniting the people and overseeing the process that will produce the next democratically elected president of Mali.
However in Abuja, the ECOWAS Court will today hear a case filed by two Malian Associations challenging the ECOWAS Commission and Cote d’Ivoire over the sanctions imposed on Mali.
