Just In: Onitsha In Total Shutdown As Protesting Tipper Drivers Block Niger Bridge, Upper Iweka Axis

By Paschal Candle

Today is not a very good day for travellers on ever busy 2nd Niger Bridge and Upper Iweka Axis as Tippers Drivers Union Protest over High Rate of Tolls being collected from them by Touts and Agents of the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] and the Governor Willie Obiano-led Anambra State Government.

As I am writing this, many travellers including myself are trapped at the Road.

No vehicle is coming into Onitsha and no Vehicle is leaving. I left Awka Since 10.30am for Benin. It is 3.47pm.

This is one of those anti-people policies of this APGA and Obiano Government.

In Anambra State today, Keke people are gnashing their teeth, same with shuttle Drivers and even market women.

Yet, this Government cannot tell Ndi Anambra what they have done with all the money they have received from Federal Government;they cannot give account of our Local Government fund.

Yet, they imposed all sort of levies on the people. For you to take your goods out of main Market, you will pay through your nose in the name of tolls to APGA Chieftains and Market Leaders.

Ndi Anambra, enough is enough. This APGA Government has run out of ideas and have nothing to offer Ndi Anambra.

Our Roads are in bad shape. All the China Roads done by this APGA Government has been washed away by floods.

What they celebrate today as governance is re-painting of ABS Gate, DMGS Roundabout. They are about to start another one at Amawbia Roundabout.

Ndi Anambra, must we continue like this? We thank APGA for what they have done. We need to try another.

Head Bridge Onitsha is the only entry into southeast from Edo, Delta and Southwest. It is completely blocked. Travellers are trapped.
