Kaduna Speaker Declares Decamped PDP Lawmakers’ Seats Vacant
Lawmakers elect new Deputy Speaker
The Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Aminu Abdullahi Shaghali has declared the seats of two lawmakers vacant after they defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC] to the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP].
The affected lawmakers are Deputy Speaker, John Audu-Kwaturu (Kachia constituency) and Junaidu Yakubu (Kudan constituency).
Speaking on the decision of the State Assembly to declare their seats vacant, the Speaker said that there is no crisis in APC for them to move to PDP.
Shaghali said further that their reasons were not tenable since there was no crisis or rancour in APC at both the state and the national levels
He, therefore, ruled that the two lawmakers must vacate their seats.
Meanwhile, Members of the Kaduna House of Assembly have elected a new Deputy Speaker.
The lawmaker representing Makera Constituency, Dahiru Liman, nominated Hon. Nuhu Goroh Shadalafiya (Kagarko Constituency) as the new Deputy Speaker, and Hon. Ahmed Mohammed of Zaria Kewaye Constituency seconded the motion.
The new Deputy Speaker, Nuhu Goroh Shadalafiya, until now, was Chairman, House Committee on Information.
He was immediately sworn in as the new Deputy Speaker.
