Kano head of refugee commission dies at 48
Zeenat Kaltume-Yahaya, the Head of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, Kano State office has died at the age of 48.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI, Sadiq Abdullateef, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, said Mrs Kaltume-Yahaya died Thursday night after a brief illness.
The statement said: “It is with sublime submission to the will of God and a very heavy heart that we announce the passage of our colleague, Zeenat Kaltume-Yahaya.
“Hajiya Zeenat died after a few hours of illness in Kano last night at the age of 48 and she is survived by her husband, Alhaji Baba Musa Yahaya and two children, Hauwa Yahaya and Muhsin Yahaya.”
In a condolence message, the Federal Commissioner of the NCFRMI, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described the deceased as hardworking and a dedicated staff.
Mrs Suleiman-Ibrahim said: “I wish to commiserate with her family, the entire staff and management of the Commission on this loss”.
“I pray the Almighty Allah to accept the soul of the departed and comfort those left to mourn her.”
The statement also revealed that the deceased, Mrs Kaltume-Yahaya, was buried according to Islamic rites in Kano, Friday morning
