Kanu’s lawyer, Ejiofor accuses British Govt of connivance in his client’s ordeal
Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has alleged that there could be a possibility of connivance of British authorities with Nigerian government in the fate suffered by his client.
Barr. Ejiofor said that the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Wendy Campbell Laing and her government isn’t doing much about Kanu’s case who is also a British citizen
Ejiofor stated this on Wednesday during an interview on AriseTV Morning Show.
He said unlike in 2015 when the leader of IPOB was arrested in Lagos as a Briton, the British government made serious efforts in reaching him, visiting him in detention and reaching out to him (Barr. Ejiofor) to know how the matter was progressing, there’s no effort by the same British government to help Kanu who was arrested as a British national having disowned his Nigerian citizenship several years ago.
He said that there’s no effort by the consulate to see their citizen that was kidnapped over a month ago.
Barr. Ejiofor also disclosed they have taken step to apply to the Chief Justice of Nigeria for fiat in to order the court to continue sitting during the vacation and they await the response of the CJN.
He also accused the military of detaining over 30 members of IPOB that came to stand in solidarity with their leader. He narrated that they were arrested at Lokoja, Kogi state on their way back and kept at the military barracks there. He also called for their immediate unconditional release
