KEYAMO VS THE NIGERIAN SENATE: THE SECOND STORY
“With due respect Baba Oyin- all the above are false, incorrect and misrepresentation of facts.”
1. It is not committee on works but Joint committee on Labour, Employment & productivity.
2. There was no time when the committee says it wants to discuss any issue in secret without the media Camera. There was media presence throughout the discussion.
3. The real issue was Mr. Keyamo that did not want to submit his actions to the scruitining of the legislature. Whereas he is acting like a sole administrator of NDE despite the fact that the agency has a substantive DG.
The NDE DG told the committee that he has no input in the set up of the state committees, that he was just invited by the Minister to attend their inauguration & this ought to be his responsibility.
Also he says he is aware of only 8 organizations to be members of the committee but Keyamo is setting up 20 members committee- a waste of public resources etc etc.
4. Keyamo did not walk out but was sent out because he refused to apologise to the committee for being accused of shouting on members, not keeping decorum & directing members on procedure to be adopted – these are against the Senate rules that even if a Senator act in a such away he may be suspended.
It was his refusal to apologise that lead to his being asked to leave the meeting while his Permanent secretary & DG NDE stayed to continue the meeting. And all were in the open.
I confirm in my honour and before God that the above are true reflection of what transpired as I attended the meeting though not a member of the committee but because the issue is important to my constituents and I made contribution at the meeting.
I wish to state that Mr. Keyamo did not demonstrate the competency, comportment, leadership & relationship skills expected of a Minister of FRN & as NASS, we shall take necessary action.
I also affirm that I am not defending the NASS on this issue but presenting the facts which are verifiable from the media & other persons at the meeting.
It is very unusual for me to comment on social media postings of this nature as we usually allow the public to have their say on issues as they perceived it but doing so on this because of the respect I have for Baba Oyin & as an elder I am sure if he has all necessary facts he wont say kudos to Keyamo.
Also am aware of the eminent members on this platform& I am of the view that they should be provided insight as to the facts.
