State chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC, Alh. abdullahi Samari, of Kwara has urged all members of the party and intending members to troop out to engage in the party revalidation and registration exercise beginning today.
He said this at a press conference in Ilorin while also urging members to conduct the exercise peacefully.
The exercise according to the chairman would be conducted across 1,872 polling units of our state.
“That is, the exercise will take place simultaneously across all the 16 local government areas of the state.
“Existing and intending members are to visit their respective polling units with two passport photographs and their voter’s card.
“However, anyone above 18 years without a voter’s card can also register while they are urged to register to vote, as a matter of civic responsibility, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins another voter registration exercise nationwide.
The Kwara APC exercise is being conducted by the Senator John Danboi’s committee.
“Ours as members of the Kwara State Caretaker Committee of the party is to mobilise the people and provide necessary support and logistics for the exercise”, Samari also stated.
Samari also condemned alleged violence at a stakeholders meeting in another part of the state.
“I use this medium to condemn in the strongest terms the reported incident of violence in parts of Edu local government today, even as we await full briefings on what truly happened.
“Violence, under whatever guise, is unacceptable.
“We call on the security agencies to promptly arrest and prosecute anyone involved in unleashing violence on the people.
“Just as the Governor has rightly noted, there is no basis for anyone resorting to violence as no one would be excluded,” the party chairman said.
