Former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC], Ibrahim Lamorde [image above] has failed to appear before the Senate on Tuesday for continued questioning in the ongoing probe against him
Lamorde was billed to appear before Senate Committee on Ethics, Privilege and Public Petition to respond to ongoing investigative hearing on alleged mismanagement of N1.3 trillion.
According to Festus Keyamo who is lawyer to Lamorde, the former anti-graft boss is ill and has been flown abroad a week after removal from office.
It could be recalled that Lamorde was removed from office last week Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari and replaced by Ibrahim Magu.
However, according to information available to Elombah.com, Mr. Lamorde left not because of any sickness.
He rather absconded to the United State of America to escape the ongoing probe.
Elombah.com gathered that Mr. Lamorde left Nigeria in the cover of the dark on Friday, the 13th of November through Cotonou, Benin Republic to avoid detection.
Before he left for Cotonou, he reportedly went to his office around 8.00pm in the company of the new EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu and his personal assistant, took some documents and money from a particular safe, and fled.
He was accompanied to Cotonou by his personal assistant.
