The State Chairman Project Rescue Nigeria, Enugu Chapter, Comrade Anekeoku Franklin has lamented that Lassa Fever can be contacted through the newspapers used in wrapping barbecue, “suya” and other food items.
This, according to him, is because some newspapers are kept in stores where rats may have walked and left parts of their saliva on them.
Comrade Anekeoku, who said this during an interview with ElombahNews concerning his view on the issue of Lassa fever killing people with reckless abandon.
He noted that Newspapers cannot be washed before using them.
He advised the good people of Enugu State to avoid eating any Suya wrapped in newspapers because Lassa Fever is real and everybody should be careful to avoid falling victim to this disease.
We also warned that using Newspapers to wrap any edible food should be highly avoided as, according to him, this will enable Nigerians to rescue and save their lives.
His words: “Do not spread and dry foods in an open place, mostly on the floor and avoid rat entering inside your house.”
