Lekki massacre: An indication that Nigerian youths are badly treated ~ Senator Anyanwu
Following the nationwide protest that has claimed lives of unarmed citizens, Distinguished Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (SamDaddy) has said that the involvement of the military against peaceful protesters was an indication that Nigerian youths were badly treated and abused.
Anyanwu described as inhuman and wicked, President Buhari’s continued silence to address the youths two weeks the exercise has lasted, adding that his uncivilized actions toward Nigerians ignited the anger of the protesters who embarked on a peaceful demonstration to press home their demands.
He regretted that the demonstration would have been handled peacefully if necessary modalities were put in place on time, expressing bitterness that now that Mr President allowed the exercise to metamorphose into destruction of lives and properties belonging to innocent Nigerians, it was too late to call the youths to order.
He said that if Mr President had humbly come out to address the youths and apologize for the bad governance been witnessed in the country, the level of damage would have been averted.
“The continued silence of President Buhari shows that he is insensitive to the plight of Nigerian youths. It is too late for him to talk to us now innocent lives were wasted by his untrained security agents. Recall that vehicles stationed for sale and belonging to the Igbos were gutted by fire at Apo, FCT Abuja. He should not border again to address us because all his actions are wicked, inhuman and clawless”. He roared.
Senator Anyanwu, a conflict resolution expert maintained that the involvement of the Nigerian Military that led to the massacre of unarmed Nigerians at Lekki tollgate worsened the whole exercise, and called for the immediate sack of all military chiefs and the Inspector General of Police to prove that he was not behind the genocide being perpetrated.
According to him, for allowing the peaceful protest generate into unwarranted killings of armless youths show that President Buhari lacks the requisite leadership qualities to pilot the affairs of the nation.
He therefore condemned the actions of the security agencies for allowing themselves to be used as tools against Nigerians they were commissioned to protect, advising President Buhari to implement the requests of the youths now that he was still at the helm of affairs of the nation.
Senator Anyanwu opined that should President Buhari refuses to call the military and other sister security agencies to order within 24 hours, Nigerians would hold him and his government responsible for the killings of innocent youths.
