Lockdown: Abuja to launch e-learning platforms

Says no third term resumption plans

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has, on Tuesday, disclosed plants to introduce e-learning platforms to keep the students constructively engaged while the lockdown to combat the spread of COvid19 lasts.

This was by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Acting Secretary for Education, Mr. Umaru Marafa, in a press statement following purported third term resumption announced by some private schools in the FCT.

The FCTA Education Secretariat said the plans will include lessons on radio and television channels.

FCTA, meanwhile, warned schools planning on resumption to desist as all schools are to remain closed till further notice.

Mr. Marafa, who condemned the purported third term resumption of some private schools in the FCT, said that there is no third term resumption plans in the time-being.

He noted that some private schools in the FCT disseminating information to parents and students indicating the resumption the 2019/2020 3rd term calendar online.

Parents were therefore expected to pay schools fees for this term prior to the purported resumption.

The Education Secretariat reminded School proprietors, parents and the general public that the directive closing all schools at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic explicitly stated that this directive was in effect “until further notice”.
