Magu detained in police custody, to face panel again today
Despite denials of arrest of the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, it has been gathered that the embattled anti-graft boss spent the night in police cell.
The PUNCH gathered that Magu was detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
Magu was grilled for about six hours by a Presidential panel headed by Justice Isa Salami, a former President of the Court of Appeal.
He is expected to face further interrogation today at the Presidential Villa.
ElombahNews had reported that Magu was arrested on Monday afternoon.
He was thereafter taken to the panel after he allegedly snubbed previous invitations extended to him.
A detachment of Department of State Services (DSS) personnel intercepted his convoy in traffic at Wuse II while leaving the office.
He was, thereafter, whisked way to the panel where he was questioned on discrepancies observed in recovered funds by his agency.
DSS later denied the arrest but available evidence shows that the EFCC boss is in custody.
Insinuations are rife that he may be shown the door as the Presidency is already looking for his replaceemnt.
