MURIC asks Obasanjo not to back Akinwunmi Adesina for presidency
In what has become an early hour rush to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, some group of persons have started to recommend names of their preferred candidates that would succeed him.
Recall that last week, the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, recommended an ex-minister during President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration, Akinwunmi Adesina, to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023 whereby leaving the Igbo to their faith.
In a statement on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, MURIC Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, stated that Obasanjo should not support Adesina because he is a “Yoruba Christian”.
According to the MURIC director, Nigeria’s president in 2023 must be a Yoruba Muslim in the name of fairness, justice and equity.
