Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, APGA gubernatorial candidate has told the United States of America (USA) Anambra diasporans that his governorship vision is to build a ‘livable and prosperous homeland’ in Anambra State that will accommodate all
Soludo made this remark in a zoom meeting with Ndi Anambra based in the United States organized by a group known as the “Soludo Promoters” based in the USA
The heavily publicised zoom meeting was hosted by Chief Patrick Okpalla (Obisaambala) and moderated by Dr Pat Ibe with the key presence of Chief PN Uchendu ( Mayor of Atlanta) and a host of other eminent personalities
In his opening remarks, the host, Chief Patrick Okpalla welcomed everyone to the zoom meeting. He gave a brief background on what his organisation has been doing to support Soludo’s candidacy in the area of mobilisation and logistics
He said his organisation has provided Buses to enable the voters back home in Anambra state to go and register with INEC for the on-going voters registration update. He also revealed that a radio jingle has been developed in support of Soludo. He acknowledged the support of key individuals such as Mr Joe Anatune, Hon Chinedu Nwoye (Glamour) and many others to his organisation abroad.
Before Soludo was ushered in, Mrs Uche Ezechukwu led a prayer to formally declare the meeting open
Soludo in an illuminating and concise speech thanked the organisers and all Ndi Anambra in the USA and across the world for their belief and support for him. He appreciated them for their continous sacrifices in expending their energy, time, resources in promoting and supporting him
He said in a post-oil world economy, Anambra need to refocused and be built on strong foundations, stressing that the tragedies of most developing countries is to take 5 steps forward and 25 steps backwards.
He emphasised that his ultimate vision is to build a livable, prosperous homeland in Anambra state where any Anambrarian who is victimised or persecuted anywhere in the world can return home to Anambra state and still prosper
He gave a graphic assessments of the past governors of the state and commended their various efforts and contributions to the development of Anambra State.
He specifically commended Governor Willie Obiano, describing him as an “awesome governor” who has done creditably well in the development of Anambra State. He said Obiano has put in place infrastructural development which can be built upon
He said the state is doing comparatively well under the incumbent governor adding that the poverty level in the state has drastically reduced from 32% to 14.8%.
He lamented however, that the capital base of Anambra is outside the state alluding it to the fact that about 11.5 million Igbos are outside Igboland leaving the region with low skilled population.
Soludo also told his audience that very soon his vision for Anambra state will be unveiled, saying that he has served the world and the nation and it is now time to serve the people of Anambra state
He reiterated that his ambition is not to rule but to provide the leadership that will get things done in the state
He called on his audiences not to be distracted by the frivolous court cases and judgements flying around adding that ultimately the will of God shall prevail at the end of the day
He called on the organisers to forward to him in specific terms, and in a presentation form their desire and aspirations which he can inculcate in his overall policy plan for the state
He again thanked the organisers for providing an opportunity for him to speak to a wide range of audiences based in the USA and across the globe
Soludo ended his speech by again emphasising the fact that ‘the Igbo needs the world and the world needs the Igbo’ and Anambra state, he reiterated, will ultimately be the next place of destination for investors across the globe!
