NASS: Abia group vows to retire Onyejeocha after ’16 fruitless years’
A group, Abians in diaspora, has protested what they described as “unfair and unjust ” against the people of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia by the member representing Umunneochi/ Isuikwato federal Constituency, Hon Nkeiru Onyejeocha.
The group said it has concluded plans to swing into action with sole aim to retire Onyejeocha who they accuse of being in the Federal House of Representatives for more than 16 years with nothing tangible to show to Isuikwuato and Umunneochi local governments respectively
In a statement dated April 26, 2021 and electronically signed by the chairman of Isuikwuato in Diaspora Organisation (IDO) United Kingdom, Mazi Azubuike Ukpai, the group pledged that they are ready to mobilize enough resources and support any interested politician from Isuikwuato to challenge Onyejeocha in the 2023 general elections .
The group expressed disappointment over the relegation of Isuikwato in the political affairs of the federal Constituency despite having several prominent men in the local government
They also boasted of numerical strength to win elections in the constituency adding that they would put a stop to anything Onyejeocha in 2023
The statement partly reads: “It is time an Isuikwuato indigene take over the House of Representatives seat in Isuikwuato/ Umunneochi federal Constituency from Nkeiru Onyejeocha .
“She has represented our constituency for more than 16 years with no tangible project to show for her representation .
“It is unjust and unfair for one particular person to continually eat a meal that belongs to two people.
“Onyejeocha, aside overstaying in the Green Chambers , has plunged our constituency into a vicious cycle of retrogression and we are out to stop her nonsense.
“We have prominent men in Isuikwuato such as General Azubuike Ihejirika and Dr Uche Ogah and we are disappointed in them for not stopping her .
“From our assessment of her representation, it is only this year that she has tried to do projects out of the other 15 years.
“This is unacceptable because we need progressive representatives.”
“The numerical strength of Isuikwuato is enough to vote her out not considering any party she runs to.
“Any political party intending to give her ticket is doing so at its peril .
“This is because we do not plan to stop at providing the finance to retire her politically but will also mobilize all our people to make sure they do the right thing .
“We are also aware that our Umunneochi brothers and sisters are tired of her.
“We will do everything possible to make sure that she retires in the next general election.
“We have the resources and we will provide enough resources for anyone to replace her in 2023,” Mazi Ukpai stressed.
