Some of the prominent names that used to feature in the Super Eagles of Nigerian games will be missing this time around, according to the new list released by Super Eagles Coach Genort Rohr.
Amogst the names missing include, Captain John Obi Mikel. Other high profile name left out includes Chelsea star Victor Moses.
They are left out of the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa next month.
Moses is being omitted despite having a splendid season with Chelsea while Mikel is understood to still be recuperating from an injury setback that has forced him undergo surgery,
Odion Ighalo and Brown Ideye are also missing from the list of 23 players listed for the encounter.
Also missing are MFM FC strike partners, Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun, who have also been overlooked as Rohr takes a gamble with a lot of fresh inclusion in his list.
The qualifying match will be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria Super Eagles will host Bafana Bafan of South Africa, in their first AFCON 2019 qualifying match
It should be noted that the last time Nigeria and South Africa met in the Senior category at the same venue, in a 2015 AFCON qualifier, the game ended 2-2. Subsequently Nigeria was knocked out of qualifying for the 2015 AFCON just two years after winning it.
