Union members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), on Wednesday, protested the alleged non-payment of staff protection allowances.
The aggrieved workers locked the gate and kept NHRC official lurking outside the building.
The chairman of the union, who locked up the entrance gate of the commission, also insisted that there will be no entry into the premises as at Wednesday morning.
The Executive Secretary of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mr. Tony Ojukwu Esq., has, meanwhile, addressed the protesters.
While addressing them, he said that he is not ignorant of the owed allowances but due to non-constituted Board Council, he has a limited approval for funds.
He noted, therefore, that he cannot approve the current funds in question.
He, however, asked the members to shield their swords and allow him time to sort things out.
As at when ElombahNews correspondent left the premises, the building was still under lock and key.
