*Nwakali MVP, Osimhen Top Scorer*
Besides the sterling performance by the Golden Eaglets at the just-concluded FIFA Under-17 World Cup where the Nigerian lads retained the trophy they worn two years ago, the Nigerian boys left some indelible marks.
The Eaglets scored a total 23 goals to ensure that they are Champions for a record 5th time.
Further, they cleared most of the awards usually given to outstanding payers.
Marksman Victor Osimhen emerged the top scorer with a record-breaking 10 goals out of the 23 scored.
Osimhen was picked by FIFA as the second best player of the competition.
The lad scored at every single match during the tournament.
He emerged winner of the Adidas Golden Boot.
He also won the Adidas Silver Ball.
Skipper Kelechi Nwakali was voted the Most Valuable Player.
Nwakali won the Adidas Golden Ball.
He also won the Adidas Bronze Boot after scoring three goals.
The best goalkeeper was Diarra Samuel of Mali while his teammate, Aly Malle is the bronze ball winner.
And now this: President Muhammadu Buhari would receive the trophy a second time after 30 years, having first received the inaugural trophy in 1985 as military Head of State.
The win was also the first by Nigeria outside the Asian continent haven won all four previous cups in China (1985), Japan (1993), Korea Republic (2007) and United Arab Emirates (2013).
