Night flights resume at Enugu International Airport


Night flights have resumed at the Akanu-Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Hadi Sirika confirmed this on his Twitter handle on Monday.

Mr. Sirika, while extolling the newly renovated International Airport in Enugu, said the Airfield lighting system for night and reduced visibility operations ‘wets his appetite to return to flying’.

He tweeted:

The bespoked Enugu Airfield lighting system for night & reduced visibility operations, wets my appetite to return to flying. Thanks Mr President for bringing the South East Nigeria, in general, to life again. Aviation community notes & appreciates your several interventions.”

Reacting to the development, Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, a social critic, called the development a “ray of hope”.

Citing Engr Chris Okoye as source, he tweeted:

A ray of hope lit up in the sky of Enugu International Airport. WE are delighted to inform you that the feat; phase 1 of the AFL, as projected to be delivered today 6th of September has been accomplished. Flights can now land at ENUGU INT. AIRPORT at Night.”
