NITDA Honours 6 Anambra Girls That Won World Technovation Gold
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in its commitment to implement National Information Technology Policy, on Thursday, honoured the six girls from Regina Pacis Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra State, that won Gold at the 2018 World Technovation Pitch held in Silicon Valley, United States of America.
[NITDA is the official Government body that develops and regulates Information Technology in Nigeria.]
During the event, the governor of Anambra State, Mr. Willie Obiano, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, presented cheques of N1 million to each of them.
Further, during the event, the Chief Executive Officer/Director General of NITDA, Dr. Isa Pantami, along with Deputy Governor Dr. Okeke and some management Staff of the Agency presented a commendation letter signed by the DG to the team leader, Jesica Osila on behalf of the crew.
Also presented were an internet dongle with 3 months unlimited subscription & a tablet with e-learning software.
DG NITDA Pantami also presented a letter of commendation signed by him to the Principal, Regina Pacis Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra State, Rev Fr. Vincent Ezeaka.
Commending the girls for thinking outside the box, Pantami said:
“An intellectual is someone who thinks outside the box, proffer solutions to societal problems and strive to make people’s lives better.”
“Anambra State has made Nigeria proud; the Gold medal won by ‘Team Save a Soul’ Girls at Silicon Valley is a remarkable feat worthy of emulation.”
