Pictured here are the mother and sister of Nnamdi Kanu demonstrating for his release yesterday at Umuahia.
Many of you may not know that Nnamdi is a prince of Umuahia and hence are free to call him names like miscreant, tout, fraudster etc. Not an issue. History will judge him, me and you.
Permit me at this time to join the able Governor of Abia State and democrat per excellence, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, to call on the protesters to please return to the negotiation table with the Federal Government and abandon street protests.
You have made your point and have made history in Nigeria.
You have taught fellow Nigerians how to protest peacefully in large numbers without attacking security men and non-protesters.
I doff my hat to you for leading the way once more and teaching others that dissent does not have to lead to bloodshed and bomb throwing for any reason at all.
You are all true children of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chinua Achebe, MI Okpara, Obi Wali, Achuzie and Margaret Ekpo.
You have also showed my generation that we are not good enough to lead in the face of injustice. Unu gbahara anyi na anyi emehiewo.
But it is now time to stop before fifth columnists hijack your peaceful protests to unleash death and blood.
Great Igbo and Nigerian youths, this is the time to retreat and allow our elders sort out the release of Nnamdi this week. They will not fail you.
Bikonu, ya diba!
Onye ndiro gbara gburu gburu na eche ndu ya nche. Ako nu uche amaka, ako nu uche ka eji mara ndigbo.
Ya gaziere unu nile.
John Okiyi Kalu
