Dr. Abiodun Oladunjoye, the Provost, Ogun State College of Health Technology (OSCOHTECH), Ilese-Ijebu, says that the institution has not increased its tuition fees.

Oladunjoye stated this when he received the executives of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun chapter, led by its Chairman, Damilola Simeon, in his office on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the provost’s reaction came against the backdrop of the rumours circulating in social media that the institution had increased its school fees.

Oladunjoye said that the institution only increased the tuition fees for students who are non-indigenes, adding that only N10,000 was added to their own as disparity fee.

”I want to clear the air today that we are not increasing the school fees. We only increased the tuition fees of students who are not indigenes, and this is also being done in other states,” he said.

The provost added that the increment had become imperative to allow the institution meet up with some financial challenges.

“It is very necessary because the non-indigenes cannot be paying the same money the indigenes are paying.

”We also want to make sure that students are made to pay something economical,” he said.

Oladunjoye appreciated the state government for supporting the institution, particularly in terms of scholarships and other useful things.

“We want to thank Gov. Dapo Abiodun for making available scholarships for students who are academically brilliant but who do not have the money to go to school,’’ he said.

Earlier, Simeon had dissociated himself from the rumour, describing those behind it as impostors.

He maintained that NANS would not compromise the wellbeing of students in the tertiary institutions across the state.

The NANS chairman assured management of the association’s continued support to the institution in its efforts at taking it to greater heights. (NAN)
