Nasarawa United Football Club on Sunday drew 1-1 with visiting Kano Pillars Football Club in a Day three match of the 2020/2021 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match at the Lafia Township Stadium.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the first half saw some fine display of skills and scoring opportunities mostly from the home side but with no goals as reward for these efforts the first half ended 0-0.

Kano Pillars went ahead on resumption (46th minute) through substitute Nwagwa Nyima, who capitalized on the home side’s poor defending to score.

NAN reports that Nasarawa United failed to equalize in most of that half but when it looked like they were going to lose their first match of the season, Adamu Hassan, latching on a pass from Abubakar Abdullahi, slotted the ball into the net for the home team’s needed equalizer in the 83rd minute to make it 1-1 till the final whistle.

Emmanuel Soccoia, Head Coach of Kano Pillars, described the encounter as fare but bemoaned the scoring opportunities squandered by his players.

“For me it’s a good game but of course l saw the opportunities for my team to win which didn’t happen. It was nevertheless a very good game and my defence was very good today,” he said.

Bala Nikyu, Head Coach of Nasarawa United, also praised the performance of both teams and admitted that the final result was a reflection of what happened on the field.

“The result is okay and it was a good match. Football is all about winning, losing and drawing. Whether you like it or not, one of that will be the outcome after 90 minutes.

“But I will go and work more on the area that needs improvement, so my team can play better in our next encounter,” he said. (NAN)
