Two weeks ago Communal crisis between Odekpe and Allah n’onugwa in Anambra West local government over a fishing lake claimed a lot of lives, and properties worth hundreds of millions of naira were destroyed.
Few days ago it was the turn of Omor and Umumbo in Ayamelum local government area. Yet again, innocent lives were lost, farmlands, livestocks and properties worth millions destroyed in this avoidable communal clash.
These communities are the food baskets of Anambra state. What is rather surprising is that in all these, Anambra state government will only react many days after the crisis, because of the pressure of the general public.
How can a man who said he’s the best in Agriculture allow these spate of killings in our agrarian communities? Obiano’s Government is not responsible and responsive.
A responsible and responsive government should have used boundaries commission to clearly delineate the boundaries so as to avoid these tragic loss of lives, destruction of farmlands, livestock and properties, and forestall future occurrences.
Emperor Willie would rather sit on his throne drinking his champagne than visit the communities to ascertain the level of damage as the Chief Security Officer of the state.
