Obiano enviously uses Works Ministry to stop road repairs by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah
The governor of Anambra State, Mr. Willie Obiano has reportedly enviously deployed the services of officials of Ministry of Works in the state to stop the philanthropic spirit of Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah who has embarked on road repairs in his constituency, Anambra South Senatorial District.
Recently, it was observed by our correspondents in the state that several infrastructures constructed by previous administrations have been abandoned and left to rot away.
Worried about the dilapidated and abandoned nature of roads in Anambra State which has reportedly become death traps, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah embarked on massive road repairs.
To that effect, he engaged the services of Toshel Construction Company Limited, fixing roads in Nnewi and its environs.
The philanthropic gesture was met with wide applause which soon attracted the envy and wrath of the governor, who has been referred to as a lame duck by residents.
In a shocking move, sources close to the government revealed to ElombahNews that he summoned officials of the state Ministry of Works and ordered them to stop Ifeanyi Ubah from further repairs at all costs.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, told this medium:
“The governor is obviously envious because of the popularity Senator Ifeanyi is gathering in the state. Nothing more!
“What else could have prompted that action?
“Instead of encouraging philanthropy in his state, he is busy dissuading good-spirited individuals from rescuing the state from the decrepit condition he plunged it.
“This is absurd, to say the least.”
In response, in a letter signed by one Eng. Ezeala B. Chidi, on behalf of the Federal Controller of Works, the Ministry, in turn, ordered Toshel Construction Limited to stop all repairs with immediate effect.
The letter, copied below, reads:
