Following the break in rainfall, the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has directed contractors handling road projects in the state to return to site or face the consequences.
Speaking to a mammoth crowd that welcomed him yesterday when he visited Ihiala in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state in continuation of his “Thank-You-Tour” of council areas ordered them to return to site on account of seizure of rainfall.
Obiano who was accompanied by the Commissioners for Works , Marcel Ifejiofor and his Information and Communications Strategy counterpart, C. Don Adinuba as well as state party chairman, Nobert Obi, among others, said he had fully mobilised all the contractors to date.
He observed that work temporary stopped on some roads due to last year’s heavy rainfall which also damaged the roads, adding that the contractors should take advantage of the dry season to return to site and complete work as scheduled having been fully mobilised.
According to him, all road projects should be ongoing, stressing that he would terminate any work where the contractor fails to recommence work.
Throwing more insight into the road projects, the Works Commissioner, Ifejiofor noted that the governor had fully mobilised all contractors handling road projects in the council areas, explaining that indigenes should take ownership of the projects and report to his monitoring team or to him directly to swing into action if any contractor is found wanting.
Ifejiofor listed most of the ongoing road works to include some internal roads, Iseke – Mbosi – Ukpor – Azia road, Our Lourdes’ internal road, Uzoakwa – Oluoha road, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University internal road, Osumoghu road, Agbagba road, Nkwo Okija – Umuhu road, Umuchima. – Akokwa road and Umuebeaju – Uli road.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of Jude Chidi Udemba and Paschal Agbodike who are seeking to return to the state House of Assembly for Ihiala 1 and 2 state constituencies respectively, in addition to presentation of the total sum of ₦8.7 million cash which includes one million gifted to Uli Ward 1 for emerging as scoring highest voter ward in the November 2017 governorship election in which the governor cleared all the 21 local government areas of the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, C. Don Adinuba extolled the governor for the visit, which he said was in accordance to his promise when he came to campaign in November 2017, describing it as a fulfilled promise.
Adinuba said governor Obiano is exemplary and has continued to execute projects across the state in order to consolidate on his delivery of democracy dividends and security of the lives and property of the citizenry.
In attendance at the event include the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwudobelu, Spiritual Director and APGA BOT, Rommy Ezeonwuka, Board of Trustees member, Mrs Uju Okeke, former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Chukwuma Soludo, SSA to the governor on pEnvironment, Mrs Jennifer Udanoh, Transition Committee Chairman for Ihiala, Ifeanyi Odumegwu and Local Government chairman of the party, Zeff Obiwulu.
