Ohanaeze Ndigbo Regrets Fulani Herdsmen Killings In Ebonyi State
— Tasks FG To Follow Federal Character Principles
The Apex Igbo body Ohanaeze Ndigbo is pained by the continous killings by Fulani herdsmen in some parts of the country especially the recent killings by this group in Izzi local government of Ebonyi state. This act of barbarism has to stop. The federal government has to go beyond verbal statements and be proactive on this matter that is capable of threatening the unity of the country.
If these Fulani herdsmen have not been disarmed by now and the Police is telling licenced gun owners to surrender their guns , then something is wrong somewhere. Ohanaeze Ndigbo also call on the federal government to respect the federal character principle in jobs, appointments and opportunities at the centre.
A situation where this principle is jettisoned by the federal government when making appointments and in job placements is no longer amusing amusing and must have to stop.
Finally we call on INEC to live up to expectation in the ongoing voters registration in Igbo land .Its showing so far in Igbo land has not been satisfactory at all. The issue of underaged voting as recently reported in some parts of the country has to be properly investigated too.
