Okorocha Threatens To Wreck APC If His Son-In-Law Sidelined [Update]
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has called on the National working Committee [NWC] of the All Progressives Congress [APC] , led by Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, to submit the name of his son in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu, to the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] as the winner of the APC governorship primaries in the state.
Governor Okorocha made the threat during the swearing in of new Commissioners in the state at Nicks Banquet Hall, Government House, Owerri.
Okorocha said upholding Nwosu’s candidacy will “protect the high integrity of President Muhammadu Buhari and the integrity of the Party.”
He added that Nwosu remained the “only hope” for the state, stressing that the candidates of other parties would spell doom for the state.
“For some time now, I have been in Abuja fighting for the soul of Imo State from possible kidnap and subsequent destruction by political thieves.
“The only hope left for Imo State now is for Uche Nwosu to emerge as a candidate. Otherwise, there will be total economic catastrophe when I leave as governor.
“Though they have spoken falsely and badly about our candidate, nobody can say that he was a fraudster in Lagos or that he was an armed robber in Benin or an arrogant man or a criminal.
“They have actually nothing to say about him except that he is my son-in-law,” Okorocha said.
the two-time governor threatened to dump the ruling APC and President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election should any attempt was made to drop his son-in-law in the 2019 governorship election.
According to him, President Buhari cannot win any election in the South East geo-political zone in particular and Nigeria at large in 2019 without his contribution.
He, therefore, warned that any attempt to subvert his choice candidate would be counterproductive to the party in the South East.
He boasted that if not by his personal recognition and connection, President Buhari would not have been allowed into the South East to canvass for vote, let alone winning the general election in 2015.
He therefore challenged President Buhari, APC Chairman , Adams Oshiomhole and NWC members to dare him and see if the party would not record total failure in 2019.
