Hopes of the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu to emerge the next governor of Ondo state suffered a set back as Chief Olusola Oke joined Alliance for Democracy to contest for governorship election in November, 2018.
Already Bola Tinubu has expressed his dissatisfaction with what transpired at the party’s primary and he has refused to throw his weight behind Akeredolu.
Oke whom the APC depends on to deliver the votes of Ondo South for the party because he is a grass roots man decided to join the AD when he realised that the party is not ready to cancel the primary election which produced Akeredolu.
Eloombah.com reliably gathered that Akeredolu’s financial power has also been reduced seriously as it is very difficult for him to effectively mobilize party leaders at the ward level.
The “Adaba” Radio station in Ondo state which is owned by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has even drastically reduced airing of his jingle on station because of his inability to pay for more air time at the station.
According to a source, “Adaba” radio is very popular station in Ondo state and since what transpired at the primary have been exposed, “Aketi” jingles on the station has been reduced drastically.
“With the defection of Oke to AD, the battle will now be between Eyitayo Jegede of People Democratic Party (PDP) and Oke who is expected to pick his running mate from Akoko land in order to give Mimiko a good fight in the area”, the source added.
Both Segun Abraham and Ajayi who hail from Akoko land have refused to surrender their political Machinery in the state to Akeredolu.
