The Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] candidate in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, Mr Oseloka H. Obaze, and his wife Dr Ofunne Obaze hit the campaign trail in Awka yesterday.
During the campaign, they addressed the women of the Awka Catholic deanery, at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Obaze underlined his human development capital platform and stressed that the state and church will collaborate in the areas of education, healthcare delivery and social welfare.
He said his government will also address youth unemployment and offer free education from kindergarten to JS3 by dedicating 26% of the state budget to education with 10% dedicated to parochial schools.
Commenting on the poor legacy of the Governor Willie Obiano-led administration, Obaze said that so far the public funds expended by the Obiano administration was not commensurate with development on the ground in Anambra state.
Hon Emma Nweke also addressed the Awka women during the event.
Similarly, Obaze reiterated his commitment to efficient, accessible and affordable healthcare for all when he commissioned of St. Felix Catholic Specialist Hospital Nnewi.
He said that emergency medical services must be upgraded for Ndi Anambra.
Obaze revealed his plan for a contributory Charity Care fund where the government, church, markets and any willing individual can contribute funds to the Charity Care scheme.
The scheme, in turn, will be used to offset hospital bills of the indigent in Anambra State.
He urged hospital managers not to reject patients because they cannot afford the required treatment but prioritize the safety of patients before anything else.
