The ousted erstwhile chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA], Chief Victor Oye will be holding illegal factional party primaries election today, August 15.
The said primaries will take place at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, the state capital.
However, the sorry part of that story is that the incumbent governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano will be following Victor Oye to the event like a sheep to the slaughter.
Presently, it is no longer news that two Enugu courts, including a Federal High and Appeal Courts, have sacked Oye and his gang and authenticated the leadership of Ochudo Martin Agbaso.
Further, the courts ordered the Nigeria Police and the Independent National Electoral commission [INEC] to recognise and work with Agbaso.
In fact, a fortnight ago, the Agbaso camp held a successful convention and is now set for the authentic primaries that will produce the APGA candidate for the upcoming election.
Nonetheless, adamant Oye wouldn’t budge.
Just yesterday he told Vanguard that he still call the shots in APGA and the sole signatory to the party’s account.
He alleged that the name, Martin Agbaso, does not exist in any document of APGA.
He also heinously accused Agbaso for breaking into his office in Abuja during which money and other vital documents were carted away.
The embattled chairman even asked the police to arrest him.
Talking about the primaries, he said that though several forms were made available for governorship aspirants, only Governor Willie Obiano completed and returned the forms.
He said 150 statutory delegates would participate at the primaries, including Obiano, who is also the chairman of APGA Board of Trustees [BoT].
Other delegates include the deputy governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke and the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mrs. Rita Maduako.
Others are members of the National Assembly from Anambra State elected on the platform of the party, state assembly members, local government chairmen and members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party from Anambra State.
In all there are 1109 delegates for today’s governorship primaries.
The recalcitrant chairman insisted that though only one person had returned the forms, all the necessary procedure must be followed in the selection of the candidate of the party.
He also claimed that INEC official were already on ground for the exercise and expressed optimism that there would be hitch free primaries.
